The Next Big Thing
I usually don’t participate in chain-letter type things, but this seemed like fun and a neat way to connect authors and networks. It’s an interview about upcoming work and you get tagged for it. At the end I’ll tag five more authors to do the same interview on their blogs! I was tagged by R.G. Porter Due out in February 2013 (Sign up for the newsletter to get an announcement when it’s released!) Â What is the working title of your book? Parallel Loves Where did the idea come from for the book? The very first spark of an idea came from the experience of being a writer. I’m sure other writers will recognize this! It sometimes feels like you’re talking to people who aren’t there and they are telling you their story....

I am starting to work on creating a publishing company to provide you with more great love stories than I can write alone! I’m going to need authors, so if you have a book or an idea for a book that involves a physically disabled hero, please get in touch. Here are the submission guidelines: http://devlovepress.com/submission-guidelines/ (Please let me know if the link works, that website is still a work in progress) It would be enormously helpful if you could share this too: twitter, facebook, any way that you can. Need to get the word out! Okay, link isn’t working, so here’s the text… We’re a small press not taking on too many projects at once, but we are currently open for submission. Please follow these guidelines. What...

One of my favorite blogs, A Writer’s Journey, is doing a fun blog hop today about inspiration boards. I have just recently started trying this out by making Pinterest boards for the books I’m working on and gathering images there that inspire me in the story. Today I’m giving you the link to the board I’ve made for Parallel Loves, a science fiction romance that I’ve been working on for a while now… http://pinterest.com/ruthmadison/inspiration-board-parallel-loves/ I have a rough draft finished and I’ve been working on revisions for months now. I have high hopes for this story, I think it will be my best work to date by far. If you’d like to be notified when it comes out, sign up on the right for my email newsletter....
Read MoreFriday Excerpt: (W)hole
You know, I don’t think I’ve done an excerpt from my first novel, the book that started it all. As with many writers, this is not actually the first novel I wrote, but it is the first I published. This book sets the tone in a lot of ways for the direction my career is going. I felt that before I could start writing confidently about the “wounded” heroes that I love so much, I needed to express where that love came from. This book is very close to my heart, since it is the one most closely based on my life (other than the non-fiction True Tales about my real life dates). What I like to say is that nothing in (W)hole actually happened, but the emotions are all completely true. The thoughts and feelings that Elizabeth experiences are mine....

I’ve got several options for the cover of my new book, so please help me to decide! 🙂 Blurb of the story is: Dylan Sinclair wants a future in music, but he feels held back by being in a wheelchair. In a moment of desperation he hatches a plan to have his brother, who can’t sing at all, impersonate him. Record executives are happy to go along with the charade and David’s career quickly takes off. Dylan must watch and keep quiet, never getting any acknowledgement for his work. When a beautiful reporter starts writing a biography of David, it becomes too much for Dylan and he determines to prove to her that he is the talent behind the famous voice of David Sinclair. Here are the options: A           B            C            D  ...

There’s a new book I’m working on and I’m very excited to share some of the details with you. It started as a short story idea, but quickly the characters took hold of me and insisted on a full novel to tell their story. Be(Longing) A talented paraplegic singer finds success when his able-bodied brother pretends to be him. Dylan Sinclair wants a future in music, but he feels held back by his disability. In a moment of desperation he hatches a plan to have his brother, who can’t sing at all, impersonate him. Record executives are happy to go along with the charade and David’s career quickly takes off. Dylan must watch and keep quiet, never getting any acknowledgement for his work.
