“Imperfect” Heroes

“Imperfect” Heroes

Why do I use the phrase “imperfect hero” sometimes to describe the men in the stories that I write?  Do I think that men who have disabilities are not perfect? Not at all!  I think their bodies are absolutely perfect. I use the phrase because it is a common euphemism for disabled male characters in books.  I need to tag and have that phrase connected with my website so that people who are searching for the kinds of stories I write can find them. It is not only devotees who enjoy these books.  Some like to read what is known as “wounded hero romance” because they are tired of Fabio heroes who don’t feel true to real life. Others have a deep seated sense of compassion and like hurt/comfort stories where a woman nurses a man back to...

Devastated by her husband’s death three years ago, she’s in no hurry to fall in love again. Besides, trying to balance her career with motherhood leaves her little time for romance. What kind of hero do you like to read about?  Forget real life and the kind of guy you married or hope to marry.  In your wildest fantasies, in the most satisfying romance novels, who is your favorite?   Do you like a dark and brooding man with a mysterious past?  Should he be quiet and reserved, not giving much away until the heroine draws him out? Do you prefer a man who is sweet, self-deprecating, self-conscious and utterly unaware of his own charm? Should he be perfect in every way or wounded by his past? Young and innocent or bitter and jaded? Tell me, who do you love best?   [Image...

Interview: Robyn Bradley

Robyn Bradley is the author of  Support Our Troops – A Short Story , just 99 cents for Kindle.  So far all the reviews are five stars, so I’m not the only one who thinks it’s quite good.  The characters are strong and well drawn, the dialogue is crisp and engaging.  The story drew me in immediately.  The only problem with it is it’s very short!  Definitely leaves you wanting more.  And luckily, more is on the way. Before I get to the interview, here is the description of the book from Amazon:  When Koty’s husband volunteers her to visit Jamie, a quadruple amputee who lost his limbs while serving in Iraq, neither Koty nor Jamie is happy. Jamie resents being “babysat” every day. Koty resents her lot in life: almost 30,...
