I’m starting to hate humanity

Is it really so bad for me to ask not to be called a freak, looked at with disgust, and compared to a pedophile? I would have thought that a person with a disability would be more understanding of how fucking hurtful it is to have someone dismiss your entire existence. I never hurt anyone. I don’t deserve to be told that the attraction that I have, that I have always behaved responsibly with, is reason for me to be hated. How dare you tell me that me defending myself is the equivalent of  a guy complaining that a woman he harassed got upset with him?  Well, this is my blog. And I’m not going anywhere. I’m here to say that I have devoteeism and I AM NOT SICK. I am very sorry for the behavior of devs who have harassed, stalked, and frightened...

Friday Story: Mariann, Dancing Alone

This is an older story. I wrote it when I was in high school! (Some thirteen years ago now. Yikes). The last scene makes me cry every time. I don’t have  a cover for this yet, but I think I’ll get one put together today because they are fun to make. Hope you enjoy! Mariann, Dancing Alone by Ruth Madison Copyright 1998 by Ruth Madison             Mariann woke up with her fingers tapping the Cha-cha against the blanket.  She turned her face off the pillow and looked at her little purple clock.  Hrmph, she thought, and blinked blearily.  She sat up on her bed and ran fingers through her mass of red hair and let it fall back against her shoulders.  She stretched forward, touching her toes with her fingers.  Her fingers were strong and defined; so too were...

Interview: Lorrie Kruse

I’m so thrilled to have author Lorrie Kruse with me today to talk about her book A Life Worth Living, which I reviewed last week. I’ve rarely been so curious when I was reading to know more about the author! So let’s dive right in to satisfy my curiosity… 1) The first thing I notice about this book is that it is the most accurate portrayal of paraplegia I’ve ever read in a fictional book. Do you have personal experience or is that purely research? Thank you. It was all purely research. When I first wrote the book, I just wrote whatever sounded logical. Then, I discovered you can’t just make it up. It’s a fictional book, a made up story, but I couldn’t make up ALL of it? Actually, I’m glad that’s the case because I found out sooooo...

Friday Story: Coworker Crush

Friday Story: Coworker Crush

Fair warning, this story is more explicit than most of mine. It’s an attempt at something closer to erotica! This story is a blind hero, the only one I’ve got so far and the story is loosely based on something that happened at my work place! 😉 Coworker Crush by Ruth Madison Copyright 2011 by Ruth Madison I press the palms of my hands on the smooth, cool surface of the conference table and lean back in my chair, waiting for everyone else to arrive. I love Monday mornings. I know that sounds pathetic, but it’s the best time for me to see Adam while there’s nothing else I need to do. At the weekly meeting I have nothing to contribute, so I can just sit and look at him all I want. He doesn’t know I’m watching him because he’s blind. Though there are times...

Legislating Death

I’m not much of one for politics. It’s too easy for me to see many different sides of things, to understand where every different person is coming from. And I hate the way it tears us up and divides us as a community of humanity. There are some issues, however, that are just too close to my heart to be ignored. One of them is this so called dying with “dignity.” They use the word “dignity” to gloss over the fact that they are talking about killing people. Killing people who are not child molesters or criminals. Just people that society seems to feel have less value than anyone else. That, frankly, terrifies me. I received a phone call today from someone in support of a prop in MA to make physician-assisted suicide legal. He...
