Romantic Friday Writers: Whispers
http://fridaynightwriters.blogspot.com/Â This blog has a challenge for writers of romance/love stories to write 400 words on a theme each Friday. Â The theme this week is Whispers. This week I continue on with Kaitlyn and Jason, characters who have been featured in my last four or so Friday posts! Â Starting in November, I’ll be doing National Novel Writing Month, and I plan to use the weekly challenges to expand the book I’ll be working on. Â So, the next two weeks will probably be the last of Kaitlyn and Jason for a while. Word Count: 383 Full Critique is Fine (In fact, have absolutely no fear of being too harsh with me. I value intense criticism because I think it will make me a stronger and better writer. Over years of workshops and critiques, I have...
Read MoreDisability and Devoteeism
They are linked.  There will always be disability and there will always be devoteeism.  The relationship between the two could be beautifully symbiotic.  Right now, I think, most feel that it is parasidic and/or antagonistic. People who have disabilities often attack devs and call them sick freaks and perverts.  Devs with no outlet and no ability to talk about what they are in a safe environemnt, take images and videos without permission to use for their fantasy life.  Having been mostly denied a real life. To break this cycle I think we need to ask why are devotees thought of with such hatred or revulsion? Is the idea that someone could find paralyzed limbs erotic and beautiful disgusting to you?  What about the idea that someone could find long, tan legs...

I am so thrilled by what I have to share with you today!  My guest today is my girl-crush, a woman I admire very much.  I’m honored she spoke with me and answered some questions for the website.  Ms. Teal Sherer is an actress who has been appearing almost every where I look lately. BIO Raised in Lenoir City, Tennessee, Teal Sherer is an actress, producer and an activist for performers with disabilities. Teal became a paraplegic at the age of fourteen when she was involved in a car accident. With the support of family and friends and a great rehabilitation program she became fully independent in her wheelchair. She went to college at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta where she caught the acting bug. While there, Teal was cast in her first film, HBO’s Emmy...

http://fridaynightwriters.blogspot.com/Â This blog has a challenge for writers of romance/love stories to write 400 words on a theme each Friday. Â The theme this week is Fearful Heart. This topic is tailor-made for my current story! Â Every week I’m finding some way to tie the theme to Kaitlyn and Jason. Â What an interesting and different way to grow a new story! Â I’m certain that this will get put together and edited and added to Dev Dreams Volume Two when it’s ready. Last week I even won the featured writer for the week! This makes me very excited. I know the piece needs more work and editing, but winning let me know that I’m on the right track with this story. Word Count: 326 Â Full critique is just fine. ### “How was your...

I had an amazing conversation with one of my favorite people in the world recently. Â My younger cousin is a brilliant thinker and insightful artist. Â Conversations with him have always uplifted me and filled me with ideas. Â We spoke a lot this time about disability. Â Obviously, it’s a subject of great interest to me and it has taken on new meaning to him as he was diagnosed with a progressive disorder of the nervous system a few years ago. I had told him a while back that one theory about disability is: you aren’t disabled until the moment you encounter a barrier. Â Even then, barriers are just opportunities to find a creative solution. Â Disability really brings out creativity. Â I’ve known people with some pretty severe mobility restrictions, but...
